The European Audiovisual Observatory has added the Society of Audiovisual Authors (SAA) to its Advisory Committee.

The SAA, which was formed at the beginning of this year, is made up of 24 different societies representing over 100,000 scriptwriters and directors from 17 countries.

It will join the advisory committee of the Strasbourg based European Audiovisual Observatory, which is part of the Council of Europe and is tasked with the role of gathering and distributing information on the audiovisual industry in Europe.

The Observatory’s director, Wolfgang Closs said: “The SAA’s presence in the Observatory’s Advisory Committee now gives us direct information on the concerns and challenges facing the collecting societies and the authors they represent.”
