This year's European Film Awards will include the new Prix Eurimages, to recognise European co-production.

The first award will go to two producers who have worked on many co-productions: Margaret Menegoz and Veit Heiduschka.

Menegoz is Unifrance president and managing director of Les Films Du Losange and she has produced films by Michael Haneke, Volker Schlondorff, Rainer Werner Fassbinder and Wim Wenders.

Heiduschka has worked at various production companies and set up Wega film in 1980, and has also produced a number of Haneke's films.

At the awards on Dec 1, the Prix Eurimages will be presented by Serbian film director Stefan Arsenijevic.
