Fortissimo Films has acquired all rights outside North America for the documentary Chevolution.

Netflix's Red Envelope Entertainment financed the film.

Trisha Ziff and Luis Lopez directed the documentary about Alberto Korda's iconic photograph of Che Guevara. The film's interviewees include Gael Garcia Bernal, Antonio Banderas, Tom Morello from Rage Against The Machine and Gerry Adams.

Chevolution will have its world premiere at the forthcoming Tribeca Film Festival followed by a market premiere in Cannes.

Fortissimo's co-chairman Michael J. Werner said: 'From the starting point of that haunting, inspirational and thought provoking iconic image of Che, directors Trisha Ziff and Luis Lopez have crafted a film that travels the world to find out why this photograph and this revolutionary figure still resonates across the political, social and commercial spectrum. We are thrilled to be working once more with our friends at Red Envelope Entertainment and Netflix to bring this intriguing and extraordinarily well crafted film to the international marketplace.'

Red Envelope head Liesl Copland added: 'Fortissimo's initial enthusiasm over the worldwide marketability of this film and its subject was a big reason for us to become involved with Chevolution and to back it financially. Our two companies are strong backers of documentaries, so we couldn't be more thrilled to have them onboard.'
