HandMade Films International has boosted its sales and marketing team with two key appointments. Tara Gaule joins as senior sales executive and Carlos Rodriguez has beenappointed as senior vice-president in the marketing department.

Gaule joins the company from Channel 4 International, where she was responsible for selling dramas, documentaries and formats to France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Eastern Europe and Latin America. She has also previously worked as senior sales executive at High Point Films and set up distribution company Catch International in 2007.

In her new role, she will report to Fred Hedman, who was recently promoted to head of sales at HandMade, and will work alongside Eva Sklar, who is also senior sales executive but based in Madrid.

Rodriguez joins the financing and sales company from BBC Worldwide, the commercial arm of the broadcaster. He will work with the company’s head of marketing, Amanda Kenyon.

HandMade has a number of films rolling out internationally this year including Kari Skogland’s Fifty Dead Men Walking, which stars Ben Kingsley and Jim Sturgess and opens on April 10. It will be followed by Planet 51, starring the voices of Dwayne Johnson, Jessica Biel, Justin Long, Seann William Scott, Gary Oldman and John Cleese, which is released through Sony on November 20 in the US.

Other projects in the pipeline include Larry Clark’sMona Lisa and Eloise In Paris, which is of HandMade’s flagship properties.
