The 20th anniversary edition of Helsinki International Film Festival - also known as Love & Anarchy - starts tonight with a screening of Anton Corbijn's Control and it will close Sept 30 with Roy Andersson's You, The Living.

Following the Helsinki run, the festival tour goes to Espoo, Tampere, Turku, Jyvaskyla and Hameenlinna.

The Finnish Film Gala will present Petri Kotwica's Black Ice, the French Touch Gala is Julie Delpy's 2 Days In Paris and David Cronenberg's Eastern Promises is the festival's 20th anniversary presentation.

The Semi-Official selection includes films such as Tales From Earthsea, Black Book, El Cobrador, A Mighty Heart, Breath, Persepolis, 4 Months, 3 Weeks, 2 Days, Sicko, and Container.

Other festival strands are devoted to Mexican cinema, Middle Eastern cinema, new French cinema, new UK cinema, Japanese animation, Bollywood, new European cinema, new Nordic cinema, art documentaries, and media criticism through film.

Festival guests will include Goro Miyazaki, Roy Andersson, Jonas Cuaron, Santi Amodeo, and Balint Keneyeres.

Also, the festival will hand out awards for Finnish director and producer of the year.
