Film and TV sales and production company High Point Films will expand with a new Irish division, High Point Ireland, and a new London headquarters.

High Point Ireland will offer co-production services as well as consolidating existing trans-continental relationships.

The recently formed production arm, High Point Productions, has brough Irish director, writer and producer Tom Collins on board. He will direct High Point Ireland 's first production, Reading In The Dark. The project is based on the bestseller by Seamus Deane about a Catholic boy's coming of age in 1950s Northern Ireland, where he deals with his family's troubled history.

Collins' recent credits include Kings starring Colm Meaney and Teenage Kicks: The Story Of The Undertones.

'We are not only spreading our wings wide on the production side, we are also cementing our staying power across Europe with the opening of our new company in Ireland,' said High Point 's managing director Carey Fitzgerald.

Other High Point theatrical features in the works include The Tasty Bust, to be written and directed by Stephan Elliot (Priscilla Queen Of The Desert). That Australian/UK co-production with Storm Productions is about the botched police raid of a notorious Melbourne nightclub. For TV, High Point is developing a film based on Sue Welfare's novel A Few Little Lies.
