Trust Film Sales, the Danish sales operation behind The Five Obstructions (De Fem Benspaend), directed by Lars von Trier and Joergen Leth, has sold the docu-fiction title to ICA Projects for the UK.

Obstructions charts five attempts by von Trier and his mentor Leth to remake satire The Perfect Human that Leth made in 1967. The result, which plays in Venice's Controcorrente or Upstream section, is both instructive and entertaining.

The film was produced by Zentropa Real with Belgium's Wajnbrosse Production and France's Panic Productions. The two co-producers have sales rights in several European territories including Spain, Switzerland and Benelux. The ICA bought theatrical and video rights as broadcaster Channel 4 also co-financed the film in return for UK TV rights.

Trust which says it is unlikely to close other territorial deals before the film screens in Toronto reports strong interest from Germany, the US, Japan and other Asian territories.
