The Screen Directors Guild of Ireland (SDGI) in association with the Directors Guild of America (DGA), has announced that the winner of this year's Directors Finders Series Award is Kings, directed by Tom Collins.

Kings will be showcased on Sept 28 in the DGA Theatre on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles, to an audience of American distributors with a view to securing a US distribution deal for the film.

Kings was selected by an international panel of experts. The predominantly Irish-language film stars Colm Meaney in the story of a group of six men who emigrate to England in the mid 1970s in the hope of making their fortunes. They reunite thirty years later for a funeral.

To precede the LA screening, SDGI will hold an awards ceremony for Kings, hosted by director Jim Sheridan, on Aug 23 in Dublin.

Guest speakers on the night will include John Carney, director of Once, and John Fletcher of Pathe UK, who will be taking part in a Q&A session on distribution/industry issues on the night.

The Directors Finders Series Award is supported by The Irish Film Board, The DGA, The Arts Council, Northern Ireland Screen, Culture Ireland, and Screen Training Ireland.
