The 2007 Louis Delluc prize has been given to Abdellatif Kechiche's La Graine Et Le Mulet. Cannes Festival president Gilles Jacob, who also heads the Louis Delluc jury, presented the award to Kechiche in a ceremony in Paris on Wednesday - the same day that the film opens in French theatres.

The film, handled internationally by Pathe, previously won the Special Jury Prize as well as a FIPRESCI Prize in Venice this year. In 2004, Kechiche's L'Esquive took home three Cesar Awards.

The honor for best first film came down to a tie between Celine Sciamma's Un Certain Regard title Water Lillies and Mia Hansen-Love's Directors Fortnight competitor All Is Forgiven.
