Hollywood and Bollywood will strengthen film industry ties following a meeting between representatives in Hollywood today [10].a

Leaders from the City Of Los Angeles and the Indian film industry signed a declaration at Paramount Pictures and agreed to collaborate on upcoming production, distribution, technology and content protection.

Delegates also supported the creation of the Los Angeles-India Film Council to increase Indian film production in Los Angeles.

“This declaration reinforces our city’s commitment to attracting international production,” Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa said. “In the past year, we have already seen Hindi movies such as My Name Is Khan and Kitesfilmed in Los Angeles, and we enthusiastically welcome further Indian production in Los Angeles.”

Villaraigosa was joined by California Film Commissioner Amy Lemisch, Paramount Pictures chairman and CEO Brad Grey, and MPAA special policy advisor Fritz Attaway along with Indian Producers Bobby Bedi and L Suresh.

Speaking on behalf of an Indian delegation that included representatives from the Film And Television Producers Guild Of India and the Film Federation Of India, Bedi said: “India has always held a fascination for Hollywood, and this agreement pulls us closer together with the aim of sharing ideas and best practices on domestic and international film production.”

This is the second significant step towards cooperation between Hollywood and Bollywood after delegates met in Mumbai in March to launch the Alliance Against Copyright Theft.
