Filmsby veteran director Alain Tanner, documentary filmmaker Ulrike Koch andanimator Georges Schwizgebel are among the line-up for this year's"Appellations Suisse" showcase of new Swiss cinema to be presented atthe forthcoming Locarno International Film Festival (August 4-14).

The complete line-up for the "Appellations Suisse"showcase, which is aimed primarily at international buyers and festivalprogrammers, comprises eight feature films, two documentaries and an animationshort:

The selection is made from Swiss productions which haveeither already been theatrically released or invited to a major film festivalin the 12 months since the last festival in Locarno.

In addition, there will be a strong presence of Swiss filmsin the festival's official sections, with presentations of such films asMichael Beltrami's English language feature Promised Land (InternationalCompetition), Romed Wyder's second filmAbsolut (Cineastes du Present), Jean-Luc Godard's Notre Musique(Human Rights programme) and Dieter Graenicher's new documentary Ferien ImDuett (Semaine de la Critique).
