Magic Light Pictures and Skillset launch second producer placement programme.

Magic Light Pictures and Skillset have launched their 2010 producer placement programme, which will place five up and coming producers into internships with key companies in the British film industry.

The producers will each receive a salary during the five month programme, which runs from April to September and includes a series of masterclasses and workshops with industry professionals.  It is the scheme’s second year after it launched in 2008.

The programme, which is part of a bigger strategy developed by Skillset and the UK Film Council, will be overseen by Martin Pope and Michael Rose of Magic Light Pictures.

Neil Peplow, Skillset’s director of film, said: “The producer placement programme provides emerging talent with an immersive experience that gives them an overview of the whole film industry value chain. The contacts, networks and learning that they acquire through this experience will be invaluable in helping them to develop long-term sustainable careers within our industry, and getting feature projects funded and made.”
