The rise and fall of PolyGram Filmed Entertainment is thesubject of a Canadian documentary called 100 Films And A Funeral, which has started principal photography.

Produced by Toronto-based Markham Street Films, the $1.5mhigh-def documentary will take an in-depth look at the upstart studio run byMichael Kuhn which distributed more than 100 features and garnered 14 AcademyAwards.

The company's releases included Four Weddings And A Funeral,Notting Hill, The Usual Suspects, Lock, Stock And Two Smoking Barrels,Elizabeth and Trainspotting.

Markham Street Films' Judy Holm is producing and ScreenInternational's Denis Seguin wrote the screenplay in the style of a documentarythriller exposing corporate ambition and greed.

The production has secured broadcast deals with theDocumentary Channel in Canada, Sundance Channel in the US and AVRO in theNetherlands.

Backing also comes from the Canadian Television Fund, Rogers CableNetwork Fund, the OMDC, CAVCO and the OFTTC.

Markham StreetFilms' documentary credits include Wrinkle, Radio Revolution, GenuineArticle: The First Trial,and Penis Dementia: The Search For The Perfect Penis.
