Hong Kong's Media Asia is planning a Korea-set sequel toJingle Ma's 2000 box office smash Tokyo Raiders that is set to star TonyLeung Chiu-wai, Richie Jen and Shu Qi.

The$5.1m (HK$40m) action comedy - which has the working title Korea Raiders- is scheduled to start shooting in October for release during next Chinese NewYear (February 2005). Ma will again direct while Leung reprises his role as asuave private eye.

Media Asia acquired the sequel rights from Golden Harvestwhich produced the original film. "We decided to change the location becauseKorea is now much hotter than Japan," said Media Asia executive director JohnChong. "The Korean setting should also make it easier to sell the film there."

Released over Chinese New Year 2000, Tokyo Raiderswas a huge hit grossing more than $3.6m (HK$28m) in Hong Kong.

Meanwhile, Media Asia has also added Gimme Kudos,from acclaimed mainland director Huang Jianxin (The Marriage Certificate),to its upcoming AFM slate.

Producedby Feng Xiaogang with backing from Media Asia and Beijing-based Taihe FilmInvestment Co, the comedy drama revolves around a journalist who is pestered bya citizen seeking public kudos for helping a rape victim. Wang Zhiwen (Together,The Emperor And The Assassin) stars in the film which is currently in post.
