Italy’s Medusa film has confirmed they will produce director Woody Allen’s next feature, to be shot in Rome in July.

ScreenDaily reported the news of Allen’s selection of the Italian capitol as his next European shooting venue last week. Following this, Italian daily La Repubblica scored a phone interview with the director who confessed his love for Europe’s “sophisticated cities.”

A Medusa rep confirmed the agreement with Allen, adding that Medusa is currently the only producer on the project, alongside the director’s sister Letty Aronson’s Gravier Productions, which is behind all Allen’s films.

At this time the agreement does not involve Spain’s Mediapro, which has been behind Allen’s Euro-set productions since Vicky Cristina Barcelona, Medusa said.

Medusa chief of acquisitions Faruk Alatan said that no other details were currently available about the project but added, “We are speaking to others, including Mediapro,” under lining that the company would be open to additional co-production partners.

Meanwhile, Romans will get a glimpse of Allen later this month as he comes to perform a musical concert in Rome’s Auditorium.
