Melissa George is in final negotiations to star in Triangle, a new supernatural thriller from Creep and Severance director Christsopher Smith.

Icon will distribute in Australia and the UK and will handle international sales in other territories.

Jason Newmark is producing for Dan Films, with Australia's Chris Brown at Pictures in Paradiase.

Triangle is about a yachting trip hit by mysterious weather conditions until a drifting ocean liner comes by.

The project is set to shoot in Australia starting in April. Icon is co-financing the UK-Australia co-production. Backers include The UK Film Council's Development and Premiere Funds, Framestore Features and the Pacific Film and TV Commission in Australi.

Framestore CFC will handle all visual effects.

George previously starred in 30 Days Of Night and The Amityville Horror.

Icon's slate also includes Push, Sleepwalking, The Black Balloon and Birds Of America.
