Iain Canning and Gareth Edwards will give masterclasses at the BFI supported initiative which runs from August 15-26.

The King’s Speech producer Iain Canning and Monsters director Gareth Edwards will be speaking at the National Youth Film Academy (NYFA)’s first summer programme, Make It Happen, which aims to find the next generation of film-makers in the UK.

60 budding film-makers, aged between 16-25 years old (from all over the UK), have been chosen out of 3000 applicants to take part in the summer scheme, which will run at the BFI Southbank with the support of BFI’s Future Film Division. The students will work in teams to produce, edit, write, direct and act in their own short films with the help of industry professionals.

The films will then be showcased at the end of the programme on August 26.

The 12-day intensive training programme is supported by the Directors Guild Trust and the Directors Guild of Great Britain.
