Los Angeles-based distributor Outsider Pictures has picked up North American rights to Anders Thomas Jensen's Danish black comedy Adam's Apples and Raul Ruiz's biopic Klimt.

Adam's Apples charts the relationship between a neo-Nazi and a priest and stars Danish cinema stalwarts Mads Mikkelsen and Ulrich Thomsen.

Adam's Apples was Denmark's foreign language Oscar submission in 2005 and won four Danish Academy Awards. Outsider will release it in March.

Jensen wrote the screenplay and Mie Andreasen and Tivi Magnusson produced, with Kim Magnusson serving as executive producer.

Outsider has also acquired North American rights to Klimt, Chilean director Ruiz's biopic of the painter Gustav Klimt whose sexually expressive style came to symbolise the art nouveau movement of the late 19th and early 20th century.

John Malkovich stars and Ruiz wrote the screenplay, which Gilbert Adair translated into English. Epo-Film, Film Line, Lunar Films and Gemini Films produced. Outsider plans a May release.

Outsider acquired rights from international sales company Independent Film Sales.
