I, Robot grossed NZ$619,601 from 60 screens for 20th Century Fox in its firstweekend, taking top honours in the box office chart and pushing Shrek 2 down into second place.

The green ogre tookNZ$239,178 from 84 screens for UIP. It has lead the chart for four of the sixweeks it has been on release, Spider-Man2 having reigned briefly during its opening weekend.

Rounding out thetop five is Fahrenheit 9/11, whichgrossed NZ$172,325 from previews on only 18 screens.

There are two othernew faces in the chart. A gross of only A$28,931 from 16 screens saw Wondrous Oblivion claim the eighth, and Billabong Odyssey landed insixteenth position by taking NZ$11,412.
