Edward Berger, Iris Berben, and Matthew Libatique will be honoured at the 15th Evolution Mallorca International Film Festival (EMIFF) running in the Balearic Islands from October 28-November 4.
Berger’s directing credits include Conclave and All Quiet On The Western Front and he will receive the Evolution Vision Award. German actress Berben, the former German Film Academy president whose credits include Triangle Of Sadness and The Day Will Come, will collect the first the first Evolution Icon Award.
Cinematographer Libatique will collect the Cinematography Icon Award. The longtime Darren Aronofsky collaborator has worked on Black Swan, The Fountain, and The Whale, as well as A Star Is Born.
The festival also announced on Wednesday (September 23) that actor and producer Marc Clotet will serve as president of the EMIFF jury.
In addition to the honourees, early festival programming includes a Cinematography Focus (October 28–30); the Made in Baleares 2026 selection of more than 32 locally-produced features, shorts, documentaries and other projects; Icon Awards masterclasses and screening events with Berben, Berger and Libatique; and a new collaboration with the Ajuntament de Calvià that extends the festival into the municipality in association with the 20th anniversary celebration of Association of Balearic Filmmakers and a Mallorca Go! Location Island Tour.
The opening Gala on 28 October will take place at Palau de Congressos in Palma and the closing night gala and award ceremony scheduled for November 4 will take place at Teato Principal.
”Celebrating our 15th edition is an extraordinary moment for Evolution,” said EMIFF founder and director Sandra Lipski, who announced the early programming at a presentation in Magaluf. “We are proud to keep building a platform where international voices and local talent come together. Our new collaboration with the island municipality of Calvià responds to a shared ambition: to create meaningful opportunities for filmmakers, to promote Mallorca as an exceptional place for shoots, and to contribute to the growth of the island’s audiovisual community.”
The full festival programme of screenings, premieres, filmmaker Q&As, workshops, industry events, and guests will be announced on October 15.
