‘Lost City’

EXCLUSIVE: Dublin-based Wildcard has picked up Seán Murray’s feature debut, Belfast-set crime drama Lost City, for UK-Ireland release.

Lost City world premieres as the opening night film at the Belfast Film Festival later this month.

John Connors, Stephen Rea, Geraldine Hughes and newcomer Jade O’Neill star in the story of a boxer whose life is finally getting on track, when he starts a relationship with a woman. Her violent ex-boyfriend, a notorious Limerick gangster, follows her to Belfast, and the boxer finds himself drawn into a dangerous criminal underworld.

It is produced by Janine Cobain, with support from Northern Ireland Screen.

Belfast filmmaker Murray’s previous credits include the documentaries Unquiet Graves from 2018 and 2021’s Killing Kelly.

Wildcard is planning a theatrical release for Lost City in early 2027.

“Lost City is a gripping crime drama which brings together a fantastic cast and a compelling story rooted in Belfast,” said Wildcard managing director Patrick O’Neill. “Seán Murray has made an impressive transition from documentary filmmaking to bold, character-driven drama, and we’re delighted to bring the film to cinemas.”
