Bleecker Street has picked up US rights from Anton to Zachary Wigon’s upcoming horror thriller Victorian Psycho starring Maika Monroe and Jason Isaacs. Production began in Ireland this week.
Thomasin McKenzie also stars in the story set in Victorian England about an eccentric governess that arrives at a remote gothic manor, where strange happenings stir suspicion that she is not what she seems.
The film is based on the novel of the same name released in February by Virginia Feito, who also wrote the screenplay. Bleecker Street plans to release the feature theatrically nationwide in 2026.
Screen first reported that Zygi Kamasa’s True Brit acquired UK & Ireland rights.
Dan Kagan, who produced Monroe serial killer horror Longlegs, produced via his company Traffic alongside Sebastien Raybaud, whose credits include Greenland: Migration, for Anton and Wigon, in association with Anonymous Content.
Executive producers include Anonymous Content’s Nick Shumaker and Bard Dorros, Feito, and Bleecker Street’s Kent Sanderson and Miranda King.
King negotiated the deal with UTA Independent Film Group, CAA Media Finance, and Anton on behalf of the filmmakers. Anton is fully financing the film and represents international rights.
Isaacs starred in the latest season of The White Lotus and his credits include the Harry Potter franchise, The Death Of Stalin, and Mass. Monroe’s credits include It Follows, while McKenzie has starred in Leave No Trace and Last Night In Soho, among others.
“Backing this film continues Bleecker’s mandate of supporting exciting voices and bringing entertaining, impactful films from across all genres to theatres,” said Bleecker CEO Sanderson.\
Bleecker Street will release David Mackenzie’s thriller Relay starring Riz Ahmed, Lily James, and Sam Worthington on Friday (August 22); Rob Reiner’s Spinal Tap II: The End Continues on September 12; and horror Bone Lake from Mercedes Bryce Morgan on October 3. Production is underway on Guy Nattiv’s Harmonia starring Bella Ramsey, Odessa Young, Carrie Coon and Lily James.
