EXCLUSIVE: Timo Vuorensola’s action thriller Midair starring Aaron Eckhart has pre-sold to key territories in Cannes for US outfit Concourse Media.
Deals have closed for Germany and Switzerland (Wild Bunch), Spain (Youplanet), Italy (Eagle), Eastern Europe (MediaSquad) CIS/Baltics (Paradise), Australia and New Zealand (Rialto), Scandinavia (Mis Label), Greece (Tanweer), Middle East (Salim Ramia/Grand Entertainment) and Indonesia (PT Prima).
Vuorensola is directing from a screenplay by George Mahaffey, who wrote the Eckhart thriller Chief Of Station that was also sold by Concourse.
Eckhart will star as a cargo pilot flying rogue missions for the CIA who is stalked during a flight by a terrorist who forces him to overcome a series of obstacles. The pilot must outwit his adversary and uncover the truth behind their motives in order to keep everyone alive.
“As opposed to other plane thrillers, Midair takes place on an enormous military cargo aircraft barrelling through the sky as it fights off enemies at every turn. It’s going to be pure adrenaline and action,” said Concourse Media CEO Matt Shreder, who serves as executive producer with Steve Lee Jones and Michael Arata.
Jamie Thompson and Jon Keeyes are producing, and production is scheduled to begin in September in Kentucky.
