‘La Gradiva’

1-2 Special has acquired all North American rights to Marine Atlan’s La Gradiva, which just won the Critics’ Week Grand Prix at the Cannes festival.

New York-based 1-2 Special is planning a theatrical release for the French-Italian drama, with a release date to be announced later.

The film, Atlan’s directorial debut, follows a group of high school students on a class trip to Pompeii who one by one are overcome by intense emotions.

Atlan is known for her work as a cinematographer on films including Jessica Forever, The Rapture, Summer Scars, Queens of Drama and The Girl In The Snow, for which she received a Cesar Award nomination.

La Gradiva was written by Atlan and Anne Brouillet, who won the 2024 Fondation GAN Grand Prize for the script. Atlan also acted as cinematographer, alongside Pierre Mazoyer.

The film was produced by Inès Daïen Dasi of Les Films du Poisson. Co-producers include Angelo Barbagallo and associate producers include Yaël Fogiel and Laetitia Gonzalez.

Mk2 is handling sales.

1-2 Special’s recent titles have included Silent Friend, Miroirs No 3, Urchin and Erupcja.
