EXCLUSIVE: Entertainment Squad has bulked up its Cannes sales slate with worldwide rights to SXSW comedy drama I Really Love My Husband and is screening the film tomorrow [May 16].
GG Hawkins wrote and directed the story of newlyweds Teresa and Drew, whose compatibility is put to the test when they arrive on honeymoon in Panama. Hawkins, Madison Lanesey, and Scott Monahan co-wrote the story.
Lanesey, Travis Quentin Young, Arta Gee, and Lisa Jacqueline Starrett star in the feature from Night Breeze Productions that is a co-production with Lu Mac Productions and New 32 Productions, in association with Pan Up Productions, BraveMaker, One Sock Pictures, Seedling Media Productions, Milagros Productions, and Assembly Line Entertainment.
Elle Roth-Brunet is the producer, with Janek Ambros, Diane Brunet, Andrea Kent, and Peter Kent serving as executive producers.
Entertainment Squad plans a US theatrical release later this year after CEO Shaked Berenson negotiated the deal with Glen Reynolds of Circus Road Films on behalf of the filmmakers.
Recent releases include coming-of-age story Paper Spiders starring Lili Taylor and Stefania LaVie Owen; 2022 Tribeca dramedy Cherry; and 2023 SXSW romantic comedy Peak Season.
