Amazon Studios has released the first image from The Aeronauts, which has begun principal photography in the UK.
Oscar-winner Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones, his co-star in The Theory Of Everything, star in the period adventure as headstrong scientist James Glaisher and wealthy widow Amelia Wren, who mount an expedition to fly higher in an air balloon than anyone has gone before.
Tom Harper (Peaky Blinders) directs from a screenplay by Jack Thorne (Harry Potter And The Cursed Child). Harper is also producing with Mandeville Films’ David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman, the team behind global smash Beauty And The Beast.
Amazon Studios financed The Aeronauts and will self-distribute in the US.
As Screen revealed, Amazon’s international sales agent FilmNation negotiated a raft of deals for the project at Berlin, including eOne for the UK and Canada, and TMG for Germany.
Other cast include Tom Courtenay, Anne Reid, Rebecca Front, Tim McInnery), Phoebe Fox and Himesh Patel.
