EXCLUSIVE: Michael Favelle’s Odin’s Eye Animated has taken on world sales on animated feature Fairyheart from Hungarian-Canadian writer-director Anita Doron, which has been selected as a work in progress at the Annecy Festival next month.
The film is about a fairy child who comes to the rescue when a wizard threatens to cut the thread that ties fairies to human children. It is based on a Hungarian story by Magda Szabo.
Fairychild is a co-production between Hungary’s Mythberg Films, Canada’s Storyteller Pictures and Lakeside Animation and Germany’s Traumhaus Studios.
It has already received support from Hungarian National Film Institute, Telefilm Canada, Ontario Creates; Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung International, and Eurimages.
“Adapting Magda Szabó’s story allowed to tell a narrative that speaks to personal and collective struggles, showing how the power of imagination can lift the human spirit,” said Doron.
