‘The Plague’

Independent Film Company has taken North American rights to Charlie Polinger’s Cannes Un Certain Regard hazing drama The Plague starring Joel Edgerton.

The film about a socially awkward teenage boy who experiences the slings and arrows of a tough summer water polo camp will get a limited theatrical release on December 24 and expand on January 2, 2026.

The Plague also stars newcomers Everett Blunck, Kayo Martin, and Kenny Rasmussen. Polinger wrote the screenplay and Edgerton is among the producers for Spooky Pictures, Doublethink, The Space Program, Five Henrys Productions, and Imagenation. 

Adam Koehler of Independent Film Company brokered the deal with UTA Independent Film Group and Cinetic Media on behalf of the filmmakers. AGC International handles international sales.
