EXCLUSIVE: Kiki’s Distribution Service is making its market debut at ACFM with Busan title The Scar-Faced Cat: Way Of Asura and upcoming feature Points Up! on its inaugural sales slate.

Based in Taiwan and Singapore, the company was established in 2024 for development, distribution, acquisition and international sales. Founder Kiki Yu has close to three decades of experience, including tenures at Disney, Netflix and iQIYI International, as well as consulting for Prime Video in Southeast Asia.

The Scar-Faced Cat: Way Of Asura by Taiwanese director Wang I-fan (Get The Hell Out) will make its world premiere in Busan’s Midnight Passion section before heading home as the closing film of Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival in November. The cast is led by rising Taiwanese talent Han Ning (Girlfriends) and Japanese star Sota Fukushi (My Tomorrow, Your Yesterday).

The fantasy martial arts thriller is set during the early years of colonial Japanese rule in Taiwan. When disputes over gold-mining interests flare, a skilled martial arts police officer is assigned to investigate a series of murders, with all evidence pointing to a mysterious assassin known as Scar-Faced Cat.

Points Up! marks the feature directing debut of Taiwan’s Li Bo-en’s feature directing debut and is a youth romance adapted from a novel published by Japan’s Kadokawa. It is scripted by Lu An-hsien and produced by Gavin Lin, the writing and directing duo behind Taiwan’s biggest local film ever, Sunshine Women’s Choir. The young cast is led by Ho Man-xi, a breakout talent from Sunshine Women’s Choir, and Bruce Chiu. The film is a collaboration between Kadokawa and Studio76 Original Productions.
