Argentinian filmmaker Lucrecia Martel will receive an honorary award at the 54th edition of documentary festival Visions du Reel, taking place in Nyon, Switzerland April 21-30, 2023.
Martel will attend the festival in person and present a masterclass exploring her “relationship with reality”.
A retrospective of the director’s work will also be shown which has included 2008’s The Headless Woman and 2017’s The Hama.
Martel rose to prominence in 2001 with La Ciénaga which won the Alfred Bauer award at Berlin where it was also nominated for the Golden Bear.
The filmmaker is currently working on a new non-fiction feature scheduled for a 2023 release.
