‘Barrio Triste’

EXCLUSIVE: Magnify has closed key deals led by Other Parties for UK-Ireland on the 2025 Venice Orizzonti selection Barrio Triste directed by former Bad Bunny creative director Stillz and produced by Harmony Korine’s EDGLRD.

Director of global sales Austin Kennedy brokered the deal with Other Parties’ director of distribution Aneet Nijjar on the Medellin-set story, which takes place in 1987 as a group of teenage outcasts steal a news camera to document their dangerous lives.

In other deals, Magnify has licensed the film in Spain (Filmin), Latin America (Gluon), Germany and Austria (Rapid Eye Movies), Greece (Cinobo), and former Yugoslavia (MCF).

Film Movement will release the film theatrically in the US on July 10 and Kennedy and his team continue negotiations in Cannes on outstanding territories.

The cast features Juan Pablo Baena, Samuel Velazquez, Tomas Tinoco Higuita, Bryan Erlin Garcia, Samuel Andres Celis, Brahian Acecedo, Samuel Ruiz, Estiven Salazar, and Jose Arley Marin Gonzalez.

Producers include James Clauer of EDGLRD, Eric Kohn, and Esteban Zuluaga of Stillz’s Miami-based production company WeOwnTheCity. Besides the Bad Bunny collaboration, Stillz has directed visuals for Rosalía, Lil Nas X, SZA, and Rauw Alejandro.
