‘The Silent Run’

EXCLUSIVE: Marta Bergman’s migrant drama The Silent Run (L’Enfant Bélier) has already raced to score deals to Italy (Cineclub Internazionale), France (Destiny Films), Canada (Axia Films) and Benelux (O’Brother) ahead of its just-announced world premiere in competition at Cairo International Film Festival.

B-Rated International is handling sales.

The Bucharest-born filmmaker’s second feature is about a couple and their two-year-old daughter who have entered Belgium illegally en route to the UK and find themselves crammed with other migrants in the back of a van. They come face-to-face with a veteran police officer tasked with chasing smugglers as everything changes over the course of one night.

The French and Arabic-language film is produced by Belgium’s Frakas Productions and Canada’s Productions des Années Lumière.

Bergman has directed several documentaries before her debut feature Alone At My Wedding, also produced by Frakas, that was selected for Cannes’ ACID in 2018.

B-Rated International was launched in late 2024 by former Mediawan international sales and acquisitions executive Arnaud Chevallier, and has a sales arm in Madrid spearheaded by Tanguy Renaud.
