Greenwich Entertainment has acquired North American rights to Michel Franco’s topical Berlinale Competition entry Dreams starring Jessica Chastain and ballet dancer Isaac Hernández.
The drama follows Fernando, a Mexican dancer who attempts to migrate to the United States and live with his socialite lover, Jennifer. After narrowly escaping death during a border crossing, Fernando discovers that Jennifer will do whatever it takes to preserve her carefully curated life – and his specific place in it. The cast includes Rupert Friend.
Greenwich will distribute the Teorema production in association with Freckle Films, AR Content, and Eastern Film in autumn and mount an awards push.
Franco reteams with his Memory star Chastain, and produced Dreams alongside Eréndira Núñez Larios, and Alexander Rodnyansky. Executive producers are Chastain, Kelly Carmichael, and Vladimir Artemenko.
Greenwich’s Ed Arentz and Andy Bohn negotiated the deal with Gersh’s Bart Walker representing the filmmakers. The Match Factory represents international rights.
