EXCLUSIVE: Sales agent Mokster Films has expanded its scope into executive producing, boarding Indonesian horror sequel Dominion Of Darkness Rephaim ahead of its release on October 8, including Imax screens.
The Singapore-based company previously picked up international sales rights to the film. Founder Nelson Mok will serve as executive producer for the first time.
The feature is also supported by Legacy Pictures and Ideosource Entertainment along with SRN, Virtuelines Entertainment, WOW Multinet Pictures and Netzme Gateway.
Indonesian stars Lukman Sardi and Jerome Kurnia reprise their roles as two Catholic priests who investigate a brutal possession in a remote East Java town tied to a generations-old blood pact, which awakens a Rephaim – an ancient demon rooted in Old Testament scripture. The exorcists are forced to confront the demonic entity alone when the Church withdraws its sanction.
The supernatural film is directed by Rizal Mantovani who is known for The Chanting trilogy and written and produced by Robert Ronny (Dominion Of Darkness, Backstage).
Its release will include Imax screenings, making it only the fifth local film to be presented in the big screen format. The first was Joko Anwar’s 2022 blockbuster hit Satan’s Slave and the most recent was Danur: The Last Chapter, which is the second biggest film of the year to date at the Indonesia box office after Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
“Having an Imax release is like a stamp of approval, that this is a major film, in production value, in scale, and in quality,” said producer Robert. “Because Imax holds international standards, and not every film is considered worthy of screening in Imax.”
The first Dominion Of Darkness drew 1.47 million admissions in 2024 and was sold to 53 international territories including Latin America, Southeast Asia, Italy and Taiwan.
