The new-look Paramount Pictures has flexed on the day the Skydance merger closed and acquired High Side, a heist feature that reunites James Mangold with his A Complete Unknown star Timothée Chalamet.
Jaimie Oliveira will adapt the script from his unpublished story about a former Motocross racer who after his father dies gets recruited by his estranged brother to rob banks.
The package is described as Heat meets Hell Or High Water and will be produced by Mangold and Chernin Entertainment’s Peter Chernin and David Ready.
Paramount Pictures co-chairs Dana Goldberg and Josh Greenstein hailed the project as “the kind of bold, original storytelling we’re committed to championing at Paramount”.
Their remark will resonate with Chalamet, who earlier this year told the audience after winning the SAG lead actor award for A Complete Unknown: “I’m in pursuit of greatness […] I want to be one of the greats.”
Chernin and Mangold collaborated on Ford v Ferrari andThe Greatest Showman.
