American Film Institute (AFI) has named the Warner Bros pair One Battle After Another and Sinners on its list of the top 10 films of 2025 alongside Focus Features’ Hamnet and Bugonia, and A24’s Marty Supreme.
Rounding out the film list are Disney/20th Century Studios’ Avatar: Fire And Ash, Universal’s Wicked: For Good, and the Netflix trio Train Dreams, Frankenstein, and Jay Kelly.
AFI’s top 10 television shows of 2025 include Emmy winners Adolescence at Netflix, Apple TV’s The Studio and Severance, and HBO Max’s The Pitt.
The institution will celebrate the winners at a private lunch in Beverly Hills on January 9, 2026, when they will honour Jafar Panahi’s Palme d’Or winner and France’s Oscar submission It Was Just An Accident with a special award.
“For more than a quarter of a century, AFI Awards has held the flag high for community without competition,” AFI president and CEO Bob Gazzale said. “It is AFI’s honour to celebrate these creative ensembles as one, as together they have proved the power of art in challenging times.”
