EXCLUSIVE: Toronto genre specialist Raven Banner is launching sales at TIFF: The Market on the wilderness survival thriller Hair Of The Bear and Turkish creature feature and Tribeca selection Mutter: The Diary Of A Mother.
Alexandre Trudeau and James McLellan co-wrote and co-directed Hair Of The Bear starring Malia Baker from The Baby-Sitters as an anxious teen sent to live with her reclusive grandfather, only to be thrust into a deadly game of cat and mouse with two strangers deep in the remote woods. Roy Dupuis from La Femme Nikita co-stars.
Trudeau is best known for his geopolitical documentaries Embedded In Baghdad and The New Great Game and partnered with longtime educator and filmmaker McLellan. Raven Banner is handling worldwide rights excluding Canada and Michael Paszt and Michael Da Silva negotiated the deal with Trudeau and producer Juliette Hagopian.
Alphan Eşeli directed the Tribeca Midnighter entry Mutter: The Diary Of A Mother in which Hazar Ergüçlü stars as a young woman who gives birth to an inhuman creature and protects her newborn by any means necessary. Güven Kıraç, Erdeniz Kurucan, and Ulvi Kahyaoğlu round out the key cast and ÖmerAtay and Eşeli served as producers.
Glen Reynolds of Circus Road and Eşeli negotiated the deal with Raven Banner’s Paszt, James Fler, and Da Silva. Raven Banner holds international rights.
