ScaryContent AFM slate led by first in series of Jane Austen, Emily Bronte horror adaptations

EXCLUSIVE: Munich and Los Angeles-based ScaryContent is kicking off talks at AFM this week on four new horror projects led by Wuthering Heights - The House Of The Damned, the first in a series of ‘Gowns and Gore’ horror adaptations of Jane Austen and Emily Bronte novels.

Production has just begin production near Yorkshire. Rebecca J. Matthews directs and produces the adaptation of Emily Brontë’s gothic classic, reimagined as a visceral descent into madness and supernatural horror. Elle O’Hara, Sky Cheema and Ross Townsend Green star. Next up in the ‘Gowns and Gore’ pipeline will be Pride And Prejudice: Serial Killers.

D3M0N – Face Of Evil just wrapped in Los Angeles. Nick Lyon, whose credits include Species: The Awakening, directs the story about high school student Emily, who enlists the help of a defrocked Jesuit when she becomes the host to a sadistic killer’s soul after playing with a cursed Ouija app. Quinn Aune, Leo Larson and Maxwell Mushallo star.

Dr. Gumball is described as Die Hard meets a demented Patch Adams and follows a group of chronically ill teens who must survive the night when a deranged clinic clown goes on a killing spree. Amanda Raymond, whose producer credits include the MGM+ docuseries Amityville: An Origins Story, directs and produces from a screenplay by Jenna St. John.

ScaryContent co-heads Glenn Kendrick Ackermann and David Marsh will show buyers a sizzle reel. The feature is in pre-production and expected to commence principal photography in the first quarter of 2026.

British father-son team director Lawrence Fowler and producer Geoff Fowler, who collaborated on the The Jack In The Box trilogy and The Ghost Within) are filming Grin. The story follows a family of siblings and their mother whose darkest family secret resurface when they get invited to play a mysterious ancient board game and awaken the titular demonic clown.
