On the day Netflix and Warner Bros Discovery announced their proposed deal, two Warner Bros films lead the 31st Annual Critics Choice Awards nominations – with Sinners picking up 17 nods and One Battle After Another earning 14.
Netflix’s Frankenstein and Focus Features’ Hamnet earned 11 apiece, followed by A24’s Marty Supreme on eight, and Apple’s F1 (which was distributed theatrically by Warner Bros) and Neon’s Sentimental Value on seven each.
Ethan Hawke is nominated for best actor for SPC’s Blue Moon alongside a now-familiar pack that includes Leonardo DiCaprio for One Battle After Another, Wagner Moura for The Secret Agent, Michael B. Jordan for Sinners, and Timothée Chalamet for Marty Supreme.
Rose Byrne earns the sole nod for A24’s If I Had Legs I’d Kick You in the best actress category, alongside the likes of Jessie Buckley for Hamnet, Chase Infiniti for One Battle After Another, and Renate Reinsve for Neon’s Sentimental Value.
The last film missed out in the best foreign language category, where the most likely beneficiary was Argentina’s Belén from Amazon MGM Studios. That film joins fellow nominees It Was Just An Accident, No Other Choice, The Secret Agent, and Sirāt – all distributed in the US through Neon – and Netflix’s Left-Handed Girl.
The awards will take place in Los Angeles on January 4, 2026.
