‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’

Columbia Pictures’ Spider-Man: Brand New Day has broken Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens’ 10-year record to become the highest-grossing film of all time at the North American box office on $936.8m.

Destin Daniel Cretton’s summer smash achieved the feat on Tuesday after 47 days and as of Wednesday morning had earned nearly $200,000 more than Lucasfilms’s tentpole, which opened in December 2015 and established the prior record by May 2016.

Brand New Day has broken more than a dozen records during its spectacular run and set new box office marks for domestic opening weekend ($360m), Thursday previews, opening day (Friday), Monday, Tuesday, opening week, and first 10 days.

The tentpole also became the fastest release to cross every $100m multiple from $400m to $900m, reaching $400m in four days, $500m in seven, $600m in nine, $700m in 13, $800m in 19, and $900m in 36 days.
