‘Unhinged’

Solstice Studios has set an August 21 US release date for Unhinged as the Russell Crowe road rage psychological thriller crossed $500,000 in Germany.

The announcement on the US release comes after Warner Bros said it will open Tenet in the US on September 3 in select markets where cinemas are open, two weeks after the sci-fi thriller launches in more than 70 international territories.

Unhinged is set to open this week in the UK via Altitude on July 31, and in Australia through Studiocanal on July 30.

The film is scheduled to open in approximately another 18 territories this week, among them Poland, Sweden, Denmark, and Netherlands. Derrick Borte directed Unhinged, which also stars Caren Pistorius, Jimmi Simpson, and Gabriel Bateman.

The thriller held at number one in its second weekend at the box office in Germany. It added an estimated $201,655 (€173,049) from 438 locations through Leonine for a $530,572 (€455,308) running total, and total admissions of 57,170 to date.

The film will play in an additional 30 sites this weekend. The marketing campaign has focused primarily on TV advertising and online/digital media, in addition to an in-cinema presence and nationwide coverage of interviews with Crowe.

At time of writing there was no word from Disney executives as to when Mulan would open in the US or the rest of the world after the studio pulled the live-action adventure temporarily from the US calendar last week.
