EXCLUSIVE: On the eve of the Cannes market Yellow Veil Pictures has boarded worldwide sales to Frontières Platform Buyers Showcase entry The Glorious Dead from the prolific Adams Family.
Toby Poser and John Adams wrote and direct the story starring Poser and the couple’s daughter Zelda Adams about a small-town sheriff and her young deputy who awaken to discover a changed world where blood drips from taps, people and pets go missing, and fleshy creatures roam the woods.
By noon the skies turn white with snow, and the dirt cannot keep the dead down. The town buckles under the pressure and by the time the sun sets all hell has frozen over. Yellow Veil will show footage to Cannes buyers in the coming days.
The cast includes Judith Roberts from Eraserhead and You Were Never Really Here with special appearances by Lulu Adams and John Adams, who serves as producer. The family’s band H6llb6nd6r recorded the soundtrack.
Poser, John Adams and Zelda Adams are the DIY filmmaking family that has co-directed genre festival hits such as Mother Of Flies and Hellbender. The Glorious Dead marks their fifth collaboration with Yellow Veil Pictures.
“When Toby and John approached us last fall with the pitch for The Glorious Dead we were more than ecstatic about the story and the new direction they are taking,” said Hugues Barbier of New York- and LA-based Yellow Veil Pictures. “Several months after, the footage we see is exceeding our expectations and seeing Toby and John’s unparalleled excitement to bring this new opus to their audience gets us even more thrilled.”
Toby Poser added: “The Glorious Dead is a film we adored making, and we feel the same about its next life under the steady guidance of Yellow Veil Pictures. We love working with Hugues, Justin [Timms] and Joe [Yanick]. We have enjoyed a creative and enterprising partnership with them for many moons now and couldn’t be happier to be back in their wide, wonderful orbit.”
