Warner Bros. Pictures Animation is developing animated feature Prehistoria, which will be the directorial debut of YouTuber Vivienne Medrano.

The feature will be an animated musical set in a fossil fantasy world and will receive a theatrical release.

Medrano is an animator who goes by the online name VivziePop, and whose work on animated series including Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss has received billions of views across online platforms.

The title was announced by Warner Bros. Pictures Animation president Bill Damaschke at the studio’s showcase at Annecy.

The showcase also included a presentation of UK company Locksmith Animation’s Bad Fairies, which has added Serrana Su-Ling Bliss, James Acaster, and Dee Bradley Baker to its voice cast.

The trio joins previously announced Cynthia Erivo and Ncuti Gatwa in the animated musical comedy about a subversive gang of fairies who shake up their magical world.

Production is underway on the film in London, with the film directed by Megan Nicole Dong, co-directed by Olivier Staphylas, and from a screenplay by Deborah Frances-White.

Bad Fairies will be the first feature under Warner Bros. Pictures Animation’s first-look deal with Locksmith, and will launch in cinemas on May 21, 2027.
