Fresh off Vantage Point for Sony, director Pete Travis has started principal photography on his next feature, another political thriller entitled Endgame. The project is shooting in the UK and South Africa.

Penny Wolf is pre-selling the film in Cannes on behalf of Target Entertainment.

Endgame's cast features William Hurt, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Jonny Lee Miller, Mark Strong, Derek Jacobi and Timothy West. Hurt also appeared in Vantage Point.

Based on Robert Harvey's book The Fall Of Apartheid and on original research, the film is about the high-risk talks between key Afrikaners and ANC exiles, resulting in the end of Apartheid.

Paula Milne (The Virgin Queen) wrote the screenplay. Hal Vogel (Britz) is producing for Daybreak Pictures, with executive producers David Aukin (Mrs Henderson Presents) and Channel 4's head of drama Liza Marshall.

'Endgame is one of those rare and exhilarating political thrillers with all the right ingredients,' said HBO Films and Peace Arch veteran Penny Wolf. 'Peter Travis is one of the hottest directors around at the moment and the cast is a filmmaker's wish-list. We're very excited about its international prospects and look forward to having our first discussions with buyers at Cannes.'

Travis is no stranger to political stories, as he also directed Channel 4's lauded IRA story Omagh in 2004.
