The director’s lawyers filed a new appeal over alleged misconduct in the original trial on March 17.

Roman Polanski’s lawyers have filed an appeal over alleged misconduct in the director’s original trial in the 1970s.

The appeal, which was filed on Thursday at Los Angeles Superior Court, asks that a special counsel investigate new evidence that a prosecutor was aware of misconduct by the judge handling Polanski’s child sex case in 1977.

The 76 year old director has been under house arrest in Switzerland since September over his conviction for having unlawful sex with a 13 year old girl.

A judge ruled in January that Polanski must appear in court before he could be sentenced.
