Production is underway in New Orleans on Enders Game, the children’s sci-fi adventure that stars Harrison Ford, Oscar nominee Viola Davis, Ben Kingsley and Asa Butterfield from Hugo in the lead role.

Gavin Hood directs from his own adaptation of the book by Orson Scott Card. Production is scheduled to end in June.

The story follows Ender Wiggin, who is drafted by the International Fleet to save the human race against the alien Formics. Hailee Steinfeld also stars.

K/O Paper Products, OddLot Entertainment and Digital Domain are production partners and Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman are producing through their K/O Paper Products label alongside Gigi Pritzker and Linda McDonough, Card, Lynn Hendee and Robert Chartoff.

OddLot’s Bill Lischak, K/O’s Mandy Safavi, Digital Domain’s Cliff Plumer and Ed Ulbrich serve as executive producers with Ted Ravinett, and David Coatsworth.

Summit Entertainment is co-financing Enders Game and will release the film in North America on Mar 15 2013. Sierra/Affinity handles international sales.
