The Cinema Audio Society (CAS) will present the director of Chicago and Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides with the honour on Feb 18 in Los Angeles.

Marshall becomes the seventh recipient to receive the award. Past honourees include Quentin Tarantino, Bill Condon and Taylor Hackford.

Marshall was nominated for best director for Chicago in 2004. He is currently in development on The Thin Man to star Johnny Depp.

“We are delighted to be honoring Rob Marshall,” CAS president David E Fluhr said. “Rob’s career spans Broadway, television, live performance and multiple feature film genres: musical, drama, fantasy adventure and tentpole blockbusters.”
