Hong Kong star Andy Lau's Focus Films has sold Robin Lee's TheShoe Fairy, the first film to emerge from its Focus: First Cuts series, toJapan's IMX.

Produced by Taiwan's Three Dots Entertainment, the film combines fairytaleimagery and computer graphics in a love story between a woman, her new husbandand her collection of shoes.

The film premiered here atthe Pusan International Film Festival in the New Currents competition.Taiwanese idol Vivian Hsu and Hong Kong actor Duncan Lai headthe cast.

Tokyo-based IMX is also amanagement company which represents Korean star Bae Yong-joon. It haspreviously released Korean films in Japan including Bungee Jumping Of Their Own and MakeIt Big. Hong Kong-Taiwanese co-production The Shoe Fairy marks its first Chinese-language acquisition.

Separately, Focus hasconcluded a deal for video distribution of the entire Focus: First Cuts series -a collection of six HD features from upcoming Asian talent - with Hong Kong's Intercontinental Video.
