Korea’s Showbox Mediaplex has picked up for international sales two independent films -Yang Ik-june’s Breathless and Kim Tae Gon’s The Pot - from the recent Pusan International Film Festival (PIFF) line-up.
Written, directed, and produced by Yang - as well as starring himself, Breathless is his debut feature film about a loan shark’s henchman and his road to potential redemption.
A recipient of the PIFF Asian Cinema Fund (ACF), Breathless drew notice from critics when it screened in the festival’s Korean Cinema Today - Vision section.
Likewisea Korean film, Kim’s The Pot is a psychological drama about lust, indifference and fanaticism. Itcenters on the strange things that happen to a young family when they move into an apartment in the city.
The Pot screened in PIFF’s New Currents competition after receiving support from Chung-Ang University’s Graduate School of Advancing Image and Science.
Both Breathless and The Pot made their world premieres at PIFF in Oct.
