Celluloid Dreams has acquired Mao's Last Dancer for international sales.

Bruce Beresford's film is the inspirational story of ballet dancer Li Cunxin and was adapted from Li's autobiography by Jan Sardi. Sardi was nominated for an Oscar for
Shine in 1997

Budgeted at $25m, the film is produced by Jane Scott and stars Kyle MacLachlan, Joan Chen, Bruce Greenwood and ballet virtuosos Chengwu Guo, Chi Cao and Amanda Schull.

After completing shooting in China, Last Dancer is currently in production in Australia and will wrap in Houston later this month. Hopscotch and Roadshow have distribution rights in Australia.
